Alvis Eugene Leggett, age 75, of Ripley died Sunday, November 6, 2016 at Lauderdale Community Hospital of Ripley, TN. Alvis was born July 29, 1941 in Ripley, TN. He is the son of the late George Wesley Sr. and the late Beatrice (Ellis) Leggett. He married Callie Bobo. For most of his life, Mr. Leggett was a manager in the textile manufacturing industry. He also worked for several years for Tricor. Mr. Leggett was a member and deacon of New Vision Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife: Callie (Bobo) Leggett , two daughters: Cindy (Ed) Hunt of Gates, TN Jackie (Alan) Cherry of Halls, TN, and one son: Michael (Michelle) Leggett of Gates, TN; Brother of one sister: Dean Davis of Ripley, TN and one brother: Roy Lynn Leggett of Brownsville, TN; He also leaves six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Predeceased by his sisters: Leona Broadstreet, Dorothy Holcomb, and Evelyna Clark; brothers: Billy Leggett and George Wesley Leggett Jr. The funeral will be held 2:00 pm on Monday, November 7 at New Vision Baptist Church, 2947 Hwy. 88 W., Halls, TN with Bro. Mark Reager officiating. Burial will follow in Woodville Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, November 7 from 11:00 am. until service time at New Vision Baptist Church, 2947 Hwy. 88 W. Halls, TN.
